엘라 핏제랄드은 다운비트 잡지에서1953년부터 1970년까지 실시한 여자 보컬리스트
독자 투표에서 단 한번도 일등을 놓친 바가 없습니다.
사실 그 이전과 70년 이후로도 수차례 선정되었고, 엘라 이후로는 사라 본이 바톤을
이어받아 나홀로 독주를 했습니다.
이기간에 독자 투표뿐만 아니라 평론가 투표에서도 일등을 단 한 번도 놓친 바가 없습니다.
역사적으로 이렇게 대중적인 인기와 평단의 인기를 한꺼번에 장기간 누린 보컬리스트는
엘라 핏제랄드가 유일합니다. 그런 의미에서는 엘라는 전무후무한 디바입니다.
이런 무지막지한 보컬리스트의 전성기 시절 녹음이 무려 시디 4장분량으로 고스란히
