20세기 영국 작곡가 브리튼의 무반주 첼로 조곡은 친구였던 첼리스트 로스트로포비치를 위해 작곡된 작품이다. 바흐에 대한 경의가 내포된 세련된 양식과 첼로 주법으로 씌어진 브리튼의 걸작으로, 제 1조곡은 제 1 노래, 푸가, 라멘토, 제 2 노래, 세레나타, 행진곡, 제 3 노래, 보르도네, 무궁동과 제 4노래로 이루어져 있다. 뮐러-쇼트는 압도적인 설득력과 20세기의 첼로 기법을 가득 담아 연주한다. 이어지는 제 2조곡의 샤콘느와 제 3조곡의 파사칼리아에서는 발군의 안정감 있는 윤기 있는 음색으로 가슴을 흔들어 놓는다. 발매를 거듭할수록 음악성을 높여가고 있는 뮐러-쇼트의 또 한층 진화된 앨범이다.
