레너드 워렌은 1950년대를 주름잡았던 미국의 바리톤으로, 1960년 무대 위에서 비극적인 최후를 맞기까지 메트로폴리탄의 간판 스타로 맹활약했다. 그는 오페라 레퍼토리뿐만 아니라 대중음악 분야에도 큰 관심을 보였다. 1947년부터 1951년까지의 레코딩들을 모은 이 음반에는 8편의 바닷노래들을 비롯하여 4/50년대의 미국 대중들에게 큰 사랑을 받았던 노래들이 수록되었다.
