2003년 아르헤리치 콩쿠르 우승자 알렉산드르 도신이 사회주의 사실주의의 마지막 추종자인 드미트리 카발레프스키의 피아노 소나타 전곡에 도전하였다. 프로코피에프의 영향이 느껴지는 1번, 대단히 기교적인 작품으로 작곡가의 대표작의 하나로 손꼽히는 2번, 달콤한 2악장이 돋보이는 3번, 그리고 신고전주의 성향의 아기자기한 소품인 두 편의 소나티나가 함께 수록되었다.
